Poised. Kind. Intelligent.
Three words that do not describe this seventh year Gryffindor student.
Words more like, clumsy, vain, and well you can’t say unintelligent, but slightly below average. But what this young woman strived for was indeed, the spot light. She loved to stand out, and have all eyes on her. She wanted people to whisper about her in the halls as she passed. Maybe this was the reason she had dyed her red hair black that summer. Was it an attempt to be further in the spot light? Or was it to separate herself from the Weasley clan? It could be both. The Weasley’s themselves had earned their own reputation, and this family member hated it.
Vanity Weasley had tried to stand out from the family for as long as she could remember. She found them a disgrace, and how she could be related to them was a simple mistake. She didn’t belong with them. Maybe this way of thinking had been developed from her mother Fleur Weasley. Her mother didn’t seem to have the same views on the family though.
Vanity had gotten in trouble that summer for her use of the black dye, causing her to get grounded. Upset with her mother, rebellion had crossed through her mind. So naturally like any girl would do to get back at their mother, she but up all her skirts to an impossibly short length. Her father Bill Weasley nearly had a heart attack, but there had been no time to change. If he had held her back and made her change she could have possibly missed the trian, and being the wonderful father he was he let his daughter skip off into the crowd of boys in a skirt barely covering her butt.
Escaping her shouting mother Vanity took off though the barrier between Platform’s Nine and Ten. Stepping out on the bustling platform, filled with various types of animals hooting and hissing. Wizard Parents clad in their takes on Muggle clothing, and students being reuinted with each other. Vanity looked around a smile on her face. Heads turned as she walked through the crowd. Students immediately began exchanging gossip with one another. Her green eyes shone with excitement and she climbed aboard the scarlet steam engine.
She shook her newly cut bangs in front of her eyes. Her scissors had made their way from her tan plaid skirt, to her waist length hair, which now just touched her shoulders. Sure she missed her long hair, but she thought the short suited her better.
The trains whistle blew, encouraging lingering students to climb aboard. There were only a couple of comparts that she found empty, some near the middle and two in the back. Gripping her trunk she rolled it down to the back of the train and slid open one of the doors. Not even bothering to try and heave her trunk up on the rack she sat down neatly in her seat, smoothing her skirt out over her thighs. A new year had just begun.
